2023-2024 Parent Handbook
COVID 19 Policy Update 9/2022
Following a change in guidelines by the Indiana State Department of Health and the Marion County Health Department, we have made the following changes to our COVID 19 policies.
Masks:
Starting Monday February 28th,2022 masks will be optional for students and staff in Giving Tree Early Learning.
Any student or staff who would like to continue to wear a mask is welcome to do so. A well fitting surgical mask, KN95 or N95 is recommended.
Parents and visitors will be required to wear a mask if symptomatic
Symptom Screening:
Students or staff with any of the below symptoms should not come to school and get tested as soon as possible.
Fatigue
Sore throat/Scratchy throat
Headache
Congestion or runny nose
Muscle or body aches
Fever or chills
Cough
New loss of taste or smell
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Nausea or vomiting
Diarrhea
Students will also be monitored during the day and anyone presenting with symptoms will be sent to the office for parents to be contacted. Depending on which symptoms are present, students will need to be picked up. If fever, vomiting or diarrhea are present the student will need to go home regardless. Parents are encouraged to test for COVID 19 and multiple tests maybe warranted if symptoms persist or worsen. Even with a negative test result, a student who has severe symptoms of congestion/runny nose or cough should stay home until symptoms start to improve.
Isolation/Quarantine:Students and staff who test positive for COVID-19 are to isolate for 5 days following the onset of symptoms. Students and staff may return on day 6 is fever free for at least 24 hours and other symptoms are improved.
If a child or staff member is exposed to COVID-19, the student will not be required to quarantine, but should be monitored for symptoms for 10 days after exposure. If symptoms develop, the student will be excluded from school and should get tested. Even with a negative test result, the student will need to remain out of school until symptoms improve. It is recommended to be tested 5 days after exposure even if no symptoms develop. Masks are highly recommended to be worn for 10 days after exposure if possible.
If the child’s exposure to COVID-19 is from anyone that the child lives with, the child will need to quarantine at home for 5 days after last exposure and may return to school on day 6 with a negative test and is symptom free.
